Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox were "finally" able to meet over the weekend.
The 65-year-old reality star hosted the 31-year-old actress, their mutual friend Candis Cayne and a number of other transgender women at a private screening of her upcoming E! docu-series, I Am Cait.
"@caitlynjenner and I finally met in person at a special private advance screening of #IAmCait," Cox captioned a photo of herself with Jenner. "#TransIsBeautiful #girlslikeus #caitlynjenner."
Cox also shared a picture of herself with Cayne, writing, "This actress paved the way for me and so many others." Cayne became the first transgender actress to play a recurring transgender character on television on Dirty Sexy Money in 2007.
Jenner and Cox have corresponded on social media since the former revealed she is transgender in April. The reality star subsequently debuted as a woman on the July cover of Vanity Fair, earning praise from Cox on Tumblr.
"Yes, Caitlyn looks amazing and is beautiful but what I think is most beautiful about her is her heart and soul, the ways she has allowed the world into her vulnerabilities," the actress wrote. "The love and devotion she has for her family and that they have for her. Her courage to move past denial into her truth so publicly. These things are beyond beautiful to me."
