Britney Spears will guest star on season 2 of The CW series Jane the Virgin.
The 33-year-old singer announced the news Tuesday on Twitter, writing, "See u at the Marbella Hotel soon, @hereisgina @jaimecamil! Guest starring on one of my favorite shows EVER @CWJaneTheVirgin #DreamComeTrue."
Spears will portray Rogelio De La Vega's (Jaime Camil) nemesis on episode 5 of the upcoming season. The character reacted to the announcement, tweeting, "My nemesis is coming!!! My former BFF @britneyspears!!! Prepare to face the wrath of Rogelio!!! #BRITNEYvsROGELIO."
"We are so thrilled," showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman said in a statement. "Personally, after hearing about their longstanding feud (from Rogelio's point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears' side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney."
Jane the Virgin premiered in October 2014, and will return for a second season Oct. 12. Gina Rodriguez stars as the title character, a religious young woman who becomes pregnant after she is artificially inseminated by mistake.
Spears last released Britney Jean in November 2013, and kicked off her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood in December of that year. The singer starred in the 2002 film Crossroads, and previously appeared on Will & Grace and How I Met Your Mother.
