Egyptian director Gamal Abdel Hameed spoke to Arabstoday to confirm that he was almost finished shooting the TV drama series ‘Shams el-Ansary’ but still has some scenes to shoot in the desert. Abdel Hamid added that he faces a difficult task "because of the temperatures in the desert", but he is determined to finish it before Ramadan. He has completed the editing for 10 episodes and presented them to the TV channel who will be airing them. “Shams el-Ansary” was written and directed by Gamal Abdel Hamid, and stars Mohamed Saad, Leqaa el-Khamisy, Mahmoud el-Gendy, Ahmed Azmy, Ramy Wahid, Sabry Abdel Moneim, Naglaa Badr, Ayda Riad and Samira Mohsen. Saad is playing the role of “Shams el-Ansary”, a young man from Upper Egypt and the son of Abdel Kader Aldharawi, the leader of one of Upper Egypt’s tribes. The events take place in a village owned by a feudal landlord before the 1952 July revolution, and monitors the problems in Upper Egypt.
