Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova beat Caroline Wozniacki for the first time in her career to claim the Qatar Open title on Saturday.
The powerful Czech won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 for her eighth WTA title and her second of the year, after her victory at the Brisbane International last month. And she maintained her excellent start to the year to win in straight sets against the world No. 18 and lift the title.
The second seed has only lost one match so far in 2017, to Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in the Australian Open quarter-finals, and won the title in Brisbane prior to her run to the last-eight in Melbourne.
Wozniacki had won the three previous meetings against her final opponent but the Czech proved too strong for her on this occasion.
