India declared their first innings on 687 for six on the second day of the one-off Test in Hyderabad Friday after Virat Kohli posted another double century and Wriddhiman Saha also reached three figures.
Kohli became the first batsman to score double centuries in four consecutive series as he reached 204, the standout performance in what was a record innings total for India against Bangladesh.
While Kohli was finally dismissed shortly after lunch, India continued to pile on the agony for the wilting Bangladesh bowlers as Saha and Ravindra Jadeja compiled an unbeaten 118-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
India declared shortly after Saha reached his second Test century to finish not out on 106 while Jadeja was unbeaten on 60.
Taijul Islam claimed three wickets while teenager Mehedi Hasan took two for the visitors, who are playing their first-ever Test on Indian soil.
Kohli was trapped lbw off Islam after he reached his fourth double century since July, surpassing the feat of legends including Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid who had scored double tons in three consecutive series.
He was replaced at the crease by Ravichandran Ashwin who helped put on 74 runs for the sixth wicket with Saha before falling to teenage spinner Hasan, having made 34.
Saha's entertaining knock included seven boundaries and two sixes while Jadeja weighed in with four boundaries and two sixes.
Their brisk hitting enabled India to become the first team to compile scores of more than 600 in three successive Tests after notching up 631 in Mumbai and 759-5 declared in Chennai against England last year.
