Egypt's Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi on Monday said Egypt cooperates with international bodies to develop suitable plans to counter expected negative effects of the water scarcity.
In a speech during an international workshop on strengthening national capacities for the management of water scarcity and droughts in Egypt, the minister said that such events are very important in strengthening Egypt's policy planners, decision makers, and those concerned with water file In the management of water scarcity and droughts problems.
A national plan must be updated to manage problems of drought and water scarcity in Egypt to be used in developing plans, policies and strategies implemented in these areas, the minister said.
Egypt can make benefit from experiences of other countries in this field to In order to move from the immediate reaction to the standby situation that enables the country to confront, mitigate negative effects and activate relevant national cadres' participation, he added.
The two-day capacity-building workshop on water and sustainable development is being organized by UNDESA, with the participation of about 50 experts from the ministries of agriculture, irrigation, environment and housing along with university professors and representatives of water users units and non-governmental organizations.
