Communications Minister Khaled Negm has asserted the service at Attaba telephone Central is not affected by the fire erupted at the building in the early morning hours on Thursday.
A total of 53,000 telephone lines were not disrupted thanks to batteries used until electricity restored to the burnt Attaba telephone exchange building, he added.
The minister thanked civil protections forces, firefighters and Armed Forces for their efforts to extinguish the blaze in a record time.
Preliminary investigations showed that the cause of the fire is a short circuit, he added.
