Online booking travel will be progressively launched from next year, as part of the continuous improvement of care of travellers, minister of Transport Amar Ghoul said Thursday in Algiers.
"We will make 2015 the year of the transition to electronic ticketing system," Ghoul said during a working visit to the province of Algiers, during which he visited the bus station of the capital where long queues were forming in front of the bus tickets selling counters, on the eve of Eid al-Adha.
"We must move to a higher level in the quality of services offered to passengers. As Internet use has become widespread, we must gather efforts of all stakeholders so that the traveler can book while at home," he underlined.
According to Ghoul, the establishment of a system of Internet booking will be take place after the launch of first pilot operations simultaneously, in all transport means (road, rail, sea and air) before this generalization.
The use of this type of booking will be possible only when the electronic payment system is operational.
"Transportation must be provided with adequate care of travelers during the weekends and public holidays including Eid days," stressed Ghoul who underscored the "particular attention" he attaches to strengthening the safety of traveling within stations.
