Singer Warda Al-Jazairia said is extremely regretful over singing for ousted President Hosni Mubarak, explaining that an artist should not sing for a President, but rather for the people. Warda said: “not only am I regretful for singing to Mubarak because he refused to give me the Egyptian nationality, but because that was the mistake of my life; an artist should sing for the people not their leader.” She added that she is currently thinking of releasing a song for Lebanese people in collaboration with the composer Bilal Zain. In an interview with Nojoum FM the star continued: “I have been absent from singing for 10 years, but not from Egypt itself.” The star confirmed that the reason for her absence from the entertainment scene was due to health reasons and being generally busy with her home and children in Algeria, in addition to fear of producing something new that’s not up to standards.
