Egyptian actress Somaya El Khashab has hit out at lawsuits filed against her demanding the star be stoned for performing "obscene" roles and abusing religion. El Khashab said the accusations were just a publicity ploy. Somaya stated that nobody was allowed to restrict the freedom of creativity and art except for official censors. She also said that she had not received any legal notification of the matter yet. El Khashab defended herself saying that she did not act in "indecent roles" and that she was not ashamed of her work due to her confidence that it sent a message promoting social reform. El Khashab concluded that she was used to reports of lawsuits being filed against her without ultimately being followed through.
