The Lebanese singer Oumeima Khalil is coming to Cairo to give a concert in Hayy Festival held at the Greek Campus at the American University, Downtown Cairo.
Born in a small Lebanese village in the Beqaa Valley, Khalil's extraordinary talent was noticed first by her family. She started her artistic journey in 1979, when renowned Lebanese musician Marcel Khalife featured her in his concerts. El-Khalil joined Khalife's first band Al-Mayadeen and toured the US with them.
Khalil launched her independent solo career in 1994, releasing her first solo album Khalini Ghannilak (Let Me Sing For You) that included many songs with lyrics by renowned Arab poets such as Mahmoud Darwish, Badr Shakir El-Sayyab, Sayed Darwish,and Mohamad El Abdallah.
To date, Khalil has released a number of albums including Omeima, Yaa, Zaman and finally Matar.
In her upcoming Cairo concert, Khalil will be accompanied by her husband, musician Hani Siblini.
