Moroccan media has reported that King Mohammed VI of Morocco, voted for the young singer Donia Batma, in the semi-finals of Arab Idol talent show. Donia, now through to the finals, shouted "Long Live King Mohammed VI!" after her family told her that she had garnered the King's vote that night. Donia, in an interview with Moroccan radio presenter Momo of the Hit Radio Station, described her place in the finals as due to "God's kindness" adding that she was "completely taken aback" by the emotional reception she received from her friends and fans when she arrived at Casablanca's airport on Sunday. Acknowledging the exit of the Jordanian singer Youssef Arafat, whom she said was "one of the most remarkable talents in the show" she added that she was sad that he didn't make it to the final, Donia is the daughter of Hamid Batma, brother of the deceased Moroccan artist al-Arabi Batma, a member of the famous band Nas al-Ghiwan.
