Khalid Abol Naga will appear at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) later Wednesday to give a lecture on the current situation in the Arab world. The Egyptian actor is one of the most politically outspoken artists in the field, frequently blogging about this year's popular uprisings in the region. He participated in the January protests in Cairo's Tahrir Square, witnessing and being subjected to the violence that occurred in the hands of the now overthrown government, as outlined in his official blog. An avid supporter of possible Egyptian presidential candidate Mohamed Al Baradei, Abol Naga will appear at the Al Mamoura Auditorium at 6.30pm to present the lecture entitled United Arab Awakening. Emirati filmmaker Ali F Mostafa, a friend of Abol Naga, told Gulf News: "This is an important cause, so please support it."
