Elham Shahin expressed her deeply regret for the accidents of Port Said Stadium and said that the negligence of the police is the real cause behind them. The actress said she believes that there were hidden arms behind the incident, which have an interest in pushing Egyptians towards behaviours of chaos and sabotage. Shahin then said that what is happening at the moment will neither benefit the government nor the SCAF, which has recently announced a clear plan for handing the power over in short time. Shahin said the clashes took place between common people and the Security forces and were aimed to weaken the police. However, she stated that although the security personnel assigned to protect the Ministry of Interior was attacked, it refused to clash with protesters. Shahin said that Egypt is living a state of security, moral and religious lawlessness, and she called on Egyptians to unite and avoid any behaviour that would harm the country. Moreover, the actress rejected the idea of everybody expressing his opinion and sticking to it as to the only model for reform. She said she thinks that the only solution for regaining stability is to stop the protests and restart work and production. She pointed that the economic weakness was one of the causes of the revolution; for this reason, strikes and sit-ins should end at this stage, especially after having had many dead among the common people and heavy losses in the touristic sector as well.
