Egyptian singer Aida El-Ayoubi will be performing on Friday for a Ramadan night held at The Music Tent, alongside Sufi music and chants and a Tanoura performance.
El-Ayoubi's singing career launched in 1991 with her biggest hit Ala Bali (On my Mind.)
As singer composer and songwriter, she produced three albums, Ala Bali, Rafiq Omy and Min Zaman, between 1991 and 1996.
El-Ayoubi then disappeared from the music scene and returned quietly in 2004 with a Sufi music album that was partially broadcasted on Egyptian TV in Ramadan.
In 2011 she joined the band Cairokee for their hit song Ya El-Midan (Oh Square), a nostalgic favourite among many revolutionaries.
El-Ayoubi, 51, graduated from the American University in Cairo with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science.
