The one-week Rock in Rio music festival ended over the weekend with a performance by U.S. artist Justin Timberlake.
Kicking off just before midnight, Timberlake wowed around 80,000 fans at the Bela Vista park in Portugal's capital Lisbon as he danced and sang on stage, moon walking Michael Jackson-style, accompanied by dancers.
Rock in Rio opened on May 25, headlined by Robbie Williams, who took fans down a nostalgic trip down memory with song such as "Let me entertain you" and "Dream a little dream."
A highlight of this year's festival came on Thursday, with the highly-anticipated Rolling Stones attracting over 90,000 fans, including former U.S. president Bill Clinton.
Band frontman Mick Jagger wowed his fans with his Portuguese skills, rolling several sentences out. "Ola Lisboa! Ola Portugal! E bom estar de volta. (Hello Lisbon, Hello Portugal. It's good to be back)," he said.
The big surprise of the night came when U.S. musician Bruce Springsteen, who was on holiday visiting his daughter, made a guest appearance and sang "Tumbling dice."
The sixth edition of Rock in Rio attracted over 345,000 fans throughout the five days of the festival. Launched in 1985 by businessman Roberto Medina in Brazil, the festival has been taken also to Spain and Portugal.
Medina is said to be planning to take the festival to Asia and Middle East.
Next year, the event will hit Las Vegas and will return to Brazil for its 30th anniversary. Rock in Rio returns to Lisbon in 2016.
