Entries for the eighth season of the Dubai International Film Festival are now open, organisers have announced. The festival, one of the biggest in the region, will be held from December 7 to 14. The festival is now accepting entries for the official screening selection, out-of-festival screenings, the Muhr Awards, the Dubai Film Connection fund and the post-production support programme called Enjaaz. Organisers said the Muhr Awards, open to directors of Arab origin from around the world, will offer cash prizes of $600,000 each for shorts, documentaries and feature films. The Dubai Film Connection will shortlist 15 director-producer teams to receive $100,000 in funding while the post-production support programme Enjaaz, will offer filmmakers up to $100,000 to assist their projects. Entries will be accepted until August 1, 2011. Article continues below Film entries for the out-of-competition sections, which includes Arabian Nights, Cinema for Children, Cine Cinema of AsiaAfrica, Cinema of the World and In Focus segments, is also open until August 31, 2011.
